Jesse mandapat combines his skills as a composer & sound designer through location-based performance & immersive experiences.
Jesse's passion for the arts began with piano lessons at a young age. Jesse's interdisciplinary collaborative efforts developed while receiving his BA in Music from UC San Diego, under the guidance of composers Katharina Rosenberger and Lei Liang, and later on with the mentorship of sound designer Alyssa Ishii. Jesse continues to branch out into diverse realms such as animated and live-action short films, as well as the world of themed entertainment.
Recent music and sound designs include: In The Ravine, an immersive performance piece directed by Brian Hashimoto and adapted from the short story by Anton Chekov; Francesca Francesca, directed by Megan Lewicki to be mounted at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe Festival; Locusts Have No King, directed by David Mendizabal at INTAR in New York City, one of the United States' longest running Latino theaters producing in English. Other interdisciplinary projects include creative engagement in the Walt Disney Imagineering CalArts Educational Initiative, and working as a Content and Production Consultant with On Track Themes and Paramount Pictures.
Jesse currently resides in Los Angeles, CA, where he recently completed an MFA in Design & Production at CalArts, with a focus in Sound Design.
